Position Description:
Digital Engineer Vehicle Simulation Capability Within company Virtual Build & Test Operations, the Digital Vehicle Model Capability team are striving to create industry leading integrated 1D and MBS vehicle simulation capability, required for full / robust virtual validation and drive reduction in physical test.
We are looking for exceptional engineers to join us in developing integrated and runtime performant vehicle models (particularly within the active chassis and electrified powertrain domains) to support the engineering of new and emerging product technology comprising complex interdependent and cross-functional systems.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of 1D & MBS vehicle model enhancements to support core programmes, from collating customer requirements, capability development, through to automated build and execution.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Working with the company CAE, Testbed & Simulator teams to understand simulation capability requirements Working with relevant plant & control system development teams to source necessary systems model content
Develop integrated 1D (CarMaker) & MBS (Simpack) vehicle models to meet identified capability requirements Validate, deploy & productionise release of enhanced master models to support all vehicle programme development gateways
Support continual development of team owned tools and automation
Skills Required:
Use of 1D / MBS modelling and simulation methods to solving real world engineering problems within automotive domain
Creation / development of CarMaker and / or Simpack vehicle models, incl. integration of Simulink based control systems.
Proactive stakeholder engagement; ability to capture, understand and communicate customer requirements and mediate conflicting stakeholder priorities
Experience Required:
Required Demonstrable experience of modelling and simulation methods to solving automotive engineering problems
Experience of component/system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets
Expertise in use of relevant CAE, 1D and/or MBS tools, namely, MATLAB/Simulink, CarMaker, Simpack Knowledge of model integration / co-simulation methods and tool coupling interfaces such as s-func and FMI Basic scripting skills in a relevant programming language, e.g. Python, C, C++ or MATLAB
Experience of collaboration with cross-functional teams / squads
Experience with agile project planning tools, with an understanding of scrum and Kanban
Familiarity with JIRA agile management toolset
Strong communication skills and experience presenting high level plans to stakeholders and management
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills to enable you to identify, navigate, and ultimately resolve issues
Experience Preferred:
Experience of scripting to automate CAE workflows
Experience of providing application support to CAE engineers
Experience of training other users in CAE tools and methods
Experience in broader supporting areas, e.g. vehicle dynamics, model based embedded control development, code generation, realtime systems, HPC distributed computing etc
