WHAT TO EXPECT:

 A Workshop Manual Author is responsible for creation, and ongoing maintenance of Workshop Manual (WSM) content within TOPIx.

WSM content should prioritise technician experience first, delivering accurate, and methodical processes that support efficient vehicle repair.

The Workshop Manual Author works closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Workshop Manual Leads

  • Product Engineering

  • SERP

  • Service Programme Leads

  • TOPIx Commodity Leads

  • Service Tooling

  • Markets (NSCs)

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Creation of TOPIx WSM content

Conduct virtual validation of procedures using CAD

Conduct physical validation of procedures using prototype and production vehicles/units to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and repeatability.

Identify, communicate repair and serviceability issues to JLR stakeholders, providing well-reasoned proposals to support effective resolutions.

Monitor, investigate, and resolve technician feedback submitted through TOPIx to continually improve WSM content and technician experience.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Essential:

·         Knowledge of whole vehicle systems and understanding of the latest vehicle technologies

·         Good communication, interpersonal skills

·         Working experience of CAD 3DX, Vis Mock Up or other CAD tools

·         Ability to prioritise the technician experience with discussions with JLR stakeholders

·         Qualified vehicle technician

 

Desirable:

·         Understanding of franchised retailer workshops

·         Automotive serviceability knowledge

·         UK Driving licence

·         Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)

Personal profile:

·         Strong knowledge of automotive repair, diagnostics, and workshop processes (experience in franchised retail workshops highly desirable).

·         Strong problem-solving ability and a logical, process driven approach.

·         Clear and persuasive communicator who can influence stakeholders and advocate for technician first solutions.

·         A supportive, coaching oriented leader who can guide and upskill WSM authors.

·         Confident managing workloads, setting priorities, and ensuring content quality.
