Responsibilities:
GME-Construction is responsible for supporting the manufacturing engineering teams in development and introduction of new and modified processes associated with new model introductions and model year changes.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the following responsibilities:
Work with the Facility teams and other Engineering Specialists to provide Mechanical Building Services expertise on multi discipline projects in support of the construction and modification of manufacturing facilities.
Undertake desktop studies and site investigations for prospective projects, utilising in-house or external specialists where appropriate to enable the evaluation of alternative economic solutions and support project justification.
Design, specify and manage to completion Mechanical Building Services Projects using specialized contractors.
Manage Contractors in strict accordance with the JLR Control of Contractors procedures.
Attend programme meetings at all levels, representing the GME C team and present where appropriate.
Manage physical installation builds at assembly plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
Design, specify and manage to completion extraction, ventilation, fire protection and sprinkler system installations.
Include 'Life Cycle Thinking' considerations and Sustainability Assessment in all designs and specifications.
Liaison with Business Protection team and Insurers on Fire Risk issues.
Support and where appropriate review CDM Designers risk assessments.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
Good interpersonal and negotiating skills
The ability to lead, and to work as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables / commitments
Knowledge of, and involvement in, Project Management of facility installations, especially commissioning of new equipment and processes
Ideally educated to Degree level in Mechanical Building Services discipline
Ideally worked as a design engineer within a Building Services environment
Candidate must have a record of proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines including previous projects and budgetary management experience
Fully conversant with the Construction Design & Management Regulation (CDM Regulations), Legislative requirements and knowledge of key Health & Safety legislation.
Nebosh constructional safety qualification preferred.
Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and can demonstrate effective problem management
Must be capable of applying statistical analysis techniques
Good knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project) AutoCAD skills Essential
Ideally conversant with Hevacomp or similar design evaluation systems, including Sustainability Assessment.
Hold a valid drivers license
An up to date working knowledge of the JCT and NEC Forms of Contract
