Lead Product Designer

​Position Description:

• This is a Lead Product Designer position within Enterprise Connectivity/Ford Mobility Europe.

• The Lead Product Designer will work as part of a Balanced Team and collaborate with a Product Owner, Product Manager, Engineers and Junior UX/UI Designers to deliver projects and features to support this.

• This is a senior role on the team and would be looking to mentor and grow more junior members.

• The Designer will be working within a team responsible for the FordPass Pro app.

• FordPass Pro is a dedicated app for those who rely on their vehicles for their work, enabling them to manage up to five Ford vehicles from a single screen

Skills Required:

• The FordPass Pro app provides the tools businesses need to manage up to five vehicles within a single intuitive interface.

Features include:

• Check In on the home screen for dynamic, instant access to important information about each vehicle

• For example, displaying AdBlue levels so owners know when to refill

• Vehicle Location lets owners know where their vehicles are at the beginning or end of the day, and helps drivers find their vans in busy car parks or work locations

• Remote Lock/Unlock provides reassurance that vehicles and their contents are safe, enabling independent security for both the cabin and load compartment

• Vehicle Health offers visibility of key vehicle health indicators including fuel levels, oil life, and tyre pressure, helping owners reduce wear and tear and improve fuel economy

• Alarm Notification immediately lets owners know if any of their vehicle's alarms have been triggered

• Remote Start on automatic vehicles lets owners remotely start the engine

• Ideal for ensuring vans are warmed, de-iced and ready for work on early morning shifts

• New features and enhancements are being added to FordPass Pro regularly.

• Some upcoming features include a heightened security Guard Mode which will allow owners of vehicles equipped with the FordPass Connect on-board modem to be alerted about any activity in their van

• Including if they are unlocked with a key

• Providing an additional layer of security and confidence. Online Service Booking will help owners to proactively manage the maintenance of their vehicles.

• Jira, GitHub, an understanding of HTML / CSS / JS and APIs.

Experience Required:

• 5+ years' experience in related field.

• Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

• Experience in training, mentoring, and/or upskilling designers

• Have experience designing applications, from consumer-facing to business applications.

• Guide product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops.

• Bring together a user-centred approach with business needs and technical feasibility.

• Bring deep experience in at least one of the following facets of design: user research, service design, interaction design, data driven design.

• Have experience and curiosity within agile and lean philosophies.

• Have experience working independently with stakeholders in a consulting role.

• Have experience contributing on cross discipline teams (e.g. working closely with engineering and Product Managers)

• Build and support a positive, impact-oriented, and well-balanced product design team.

• You'll help the designers who report to you grow and accomplish more by setting clear goals, providing direct feedback, managing project loads and allocating designers accordingly, and ensuring deadlines are met.

  Experience Preferred:

• Have experience enabling stakeholders in user-centred design best practices.

• Interest in delivering talks/seminars on design to relevant stakeholders.

• Experience in systems thinking and designing complex multi-sided systems.

• Experience with data visualization

• Understanding of commercial KPIs and the interlinkage with user metrics (design constraints)

• Experience in defining and implementing the product strategy to ensure both quantitative and qualitative customer feedback is driving product plans and design decisions

• Be responsible for design excellence.

• You'll advocate for robust UX frameworks, foster a healthy feedback culture, strike the right balance of design quality and pragmatic progress, and help your team value building great user experiences as an essential part of achieving business goals.

Education Required:

• BA/BS in Human Computer Interaction or related field, or equivalent experience
