​Position Description:

  • ME Logistics Engineering Lead Engineer Manufacturing Engineering (ME) environment.

  • This will include the potential need for some management tasks and coordinating of similar activities with other engineers in the project delivery team.

  • These works can include all aspects of Infrastructure and logistic engineering solutions from concept to delivery, including, Civils, Structural steelwork, mechanical designs / electrical & service installations and general building fitout within the plant being supported.

  • This will be a lead role, delivering and using the support of our inhouse and external vendors to deliver each program on time and budget.

  • As lead engineer you will have to establish business requirement / engage with stakeholders and customers alike and present sound engineering solutions, these will require elements of finance justification and once approve you will lead the end result through to delivery.

  • Thus, you will need to be proactive in your approach and develop relations with a number of internal and external stakeholders to drive the end result.

  • These projects will include all aspects of Health and Safety and as the company is a keen promoter of Zero harm, safety will be top on the list for all persons including project Managers, Contractors and all relevant departments to deliver Projects in line with relevant KPI's.

  • This role is a key position in the delivery of GME's core works, and covers a wide spectrum of delivery, from Feasibility, Procurement, Manufacture, Delivery, installation, commissioning and handover.

  • This is a highly demanding role with green field opportunities providing a sense of autonomy and control over your work and opportunities for growth and development.

Skills Required:

  • Relevant degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred (but not essential) in Infrastructure, Plant, Electrical or Mechanical disciplines / industry.

  • We are seeking an experienced multiskilled and rounded Engineer but appreciate you / the successful candidate will have a bias regarding any historic discipline, please identify this within your CV submission, i.e., trade associations, prof bodies, competency certs etc.

  • Previous experience and strong background of engineering delivery works from conception through to delivery and completion is essential.

  • Experience in contractor management and site installations, to deliver benchmark Site Safety performance.

  • Clear understanding of site safety, Safety legislation (CDM 2015 Reg etc) and that of contractor management.

  • Broad knowledge of logistic engineering concepts and systems used and on the market.

  • Excellent knowledge of logistic engineering methods, materials and skills effecting (fit for purpose)

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills

  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams to deliver against tight timescales and budgets.

  • Knowledge and experience of supporting the development and costing of proposals, right through to delivery and final project completion

Key Performance Indicators

  • Complete all works in a safe manner with Zero incidents or accidents.

  • Complete all works in line with the relevant Health and Safety controls i.e., compliance with CDM.

  • Deliver all Infrastructure works on time as defined in the project timing plans.

  • Deliver all works within financial budgets.

  • Deliver all Infrastructure works to the defined quality standards as specified.

  • Autocad exposure and the ability to create and modify engineering drawings.

  • Material flow understanding and the concept of logistic engineering developments on the market.

  • Experience with AGV's

  • Experience with automation systems

  Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of logistics engineering projects within company plants, using both internal and external contractor resources.

  • Drive a 'Zero Harm' approach to safety in our designs and contractor performance.

  • Drive a customer first approach and promote our JLR creators' code in all aspects of work undertaken.

  • Be the responsible person for works carried out, including civil works, structural steel works, mechanical & electrical works and general engineering fit outs.

  • Support the wider business planning, in scheme reviews, budget cost creation and justifications.

  • Support the GME Infrastructure Manager in the development of key stakeholder relationships ensuring that GME is the primary source of all logistic engineering works.

  • This will include stakeholders outside of GME.

  • Support the GME Infrastructure Manager with the development and maintenance of all logistics engineering standards within ME, ensuring they are aligned to support the Self-sufficiency operating model.

  • Deliver world class facilities and engineering operating model, safely, on budget, on time and to agreed quality standards.

  • Undertake any other work as directed by the GME Infrastructure Manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

  • A direct report will feed into this role, so experience managing others is desirable.

Key Interactions

  • The ME engineering facilities and proposals team, to identify project scope and needs.

  • The ME Design teams, to support the development of proposals and solution to meet the customer requirements.

  • The ME Mechanical and Electrical Installation Teams, to coordinate project delivery resources across the projects.

  • The ME Business Manager to coordinate quotation, costing and timing, procurement information.

  • The ME Site Safety team to support and verify Infrastructure methods and plans.

  • External suppliers to coordinate labour, plant, materials and equipment.

  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications in relation to physicals needed.
