Position Description:

  • APRL are growing in the support for company research and development programmes, we are currently engaged in projects across both our Power Electronic and ICE capable facilities.

  • As these projects come online we are also obliged to the university to market the facility to 3rd parties through the conditions of the UKRPIF grant.

  • The Incremental capacity demand within APRL to enable BEV 3.0, ICE and third party workload, demands the test system automation structure to be effectively managed and integrate in relation to test scripts, PUMA files and additional software such as CAMEO, INCA, dSpace, IndiCOM etc.

  • To support this capability which is essential to operations requires a permanent resident engineer to enable and maintain laboratory capability

Skills Required:

  • Power Electronic data measurement and initial quality evaluation, both in e-machine and inverter test applications HEV, BEV power electronic efficiency test systems

  • Experience in rig/laboratory based technical test and evaluation processes in the field of Power Electronic systems

Experience Required:

  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience Preferred:

  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation.

  • Experience in test data management and automation of test reporting.

  • Experience with CAN protocols

  • Proven ability to maintain and update existing test systems and frameworks, particularly those involving AVL Puma equipment.

  • Desire to further develop your own and your teams technical understanding in the field

  • Ability to explain test methodologies and facility capabilities

  • A good understanding of laboratory equipment capability and flexibility

  • Good activity execution skills

  • Ability to communicate and influence at operational level

  • Experience working in and technically contributing within a Power Electronic engineering environment

Additional information:

  • This role is based within the company collaboration areas at Warwick University and supports activities for the University, the company, and third parties.

  • As a technically competent automation lead, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the test data structure, including test data, automation scripts, and control scripts for all test programs in the APRL test facilities.

  • This role also involves troubleshooting issues and creating detailed test reports.

  • Additionally this role includes engaging with internal company teams, university partners, and promoting the test capabilities more widely within the industry to third parties.
