EDS Engineer (Wire Harness)
As an EDS Engineer (Wire Harness) you will be responsible for a given family of harnesses within a vehicle program. You will create and own the Wire Harness design, working with Systems and CAD engineering teams to develop a robust Wire Harness design that implements the EDS vehicle system design, meeting the customer requirements and deliverables with an efficient and cost-effective design for harness manufacturing. You will manage and control changes to the harness design from concept to production and ensure the correct level designs are delivered on time to support customer vehicle build events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Lead and own Wire Harness design for all assigned harness families for assigned projects being the Single Point of Contact.
· Collaborate with Releasing and Systems Engineers to review customer product direction information and establish complexity for harnesses in area of responsibility, including complexity reduction where possible.
· Work with CAD Engineers to develop robust Wire Harness designs that meet customer design specifications and rules, whilst maintaining harness manufacturing efficiency, from conceptual initial routings through to production level designs.
· Define the physical retention and protection of the Wire Harness (retainers, tubes, taping, covers, etc.), ensuring these meet the Tier 1 Suppliers and Customer requirements.
· Work with Systems Engineering Team to produce Wire Harness designs that are aligned with the vehicle level EDS system design.
· Work with Drafting team to develop clear, concise wire harness drawings that communicate the required design effectively to harness manufacturing plants, customer and costing teams.
· Manage issues affecting Wire Harness designs (including components). Lead resolution and communication internally, with customer and with interfacing vehicle commodities to ensure robust closure.
· Manage design changes during program development; working with CAD and Systems team to implement changes to resolve issues as they arise, updating drawings with system and packaging content, and processing the changes within the Tier 1 Supplier and Customer change management procedures.
Requirements:
· University degree in electrical, mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent experience
· Experience in EDS
· Experience in Automotive
· Extensive experience in the design and development of automotive wiring harnesses
· Self- sufficient, self-motivated and excellent team-player
· Flexible, adaptable, proactive, diplomatic attitude
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Microsoft office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Projects
· Flexibility
· Strong analytical skills
· High attention to detail
· Fluent in English
· Full Driving Licence UK and Equivalent
· Right to work in the UK – Valid Passport
