​The main purpose of the role is to collect, analyse, design and manage the development of the Wiring Harness

based on customer requirements under consideration of all engineering specifications, cost, quality and timing as well as environmental aspects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design 2D drawings of automotive wiring harnesses using Arcadia.

  • Create 2D drawings of wiring harnesses from blank sheet of paper using Arcadia harness design software.

  • Translating 3 dimensional shapes of the harnesses into the 2D drawings; harness lengths, orientation of connectors and clips, breakout positions.

  • Research for automotive connectors, coverings and any other materials required for wiring harness design.

  • Adding and maintaining existing components in Arcadia database.

  • Adhere to Customer specifications and requirements while developing designs.

  • Adhere to internal specifications and requirements while developing designs.

  • Creating presentations explaining harness routing and installation on the vehicle.

  • Review designs during the packaging meetings:  Actively participating in finding optimizations in harness design.

  • Ensure EDS routing and package design is compatible with vehicle environment.

  • Check 2D drawings are in-line with the planned design prior to release.

  • Support design reviews at company and customer locations.

  • Identify, track and resolve EDS design and manufacturing issues.

  • Carry out CAD assembly investigations together with the responsible project engineers.

  • Support vehicle builds.

  • Performing DVP checks on he harnesses.

Requirements:

  • +3 years of experience designing automotive wiring harnesses.

  • University degree in electrical, mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Previous practical design experience from an automotive background

  • Proficient CAD experience using Arcadia or similar harness design tools.  

  • Previous proven experience with designing/draughting All types of Harnesses (HV, 48V, 12V and comms)

  • Excellent knowledge of automotive connectors (HV and LV), coverings, clips and any other materials used in manufacturing wiring harnesses.

  • Excellent knowledge of harness assembly processes.

  • Working knowledge of DVP, FMEA and APQP.

  • Vehicle assembly process, especially EDS related aspects.

  • Solid experience of working with, or design of, vehicle electrical systems

  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic system function

  • Understanding of EDS design and development process

  • Proficient with Microsoft office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Projects

  • Excellent communication skills
